There are a few little "to do's" that make your candles last longer and burn better. When you first light your new candle, allow the wax pool to melt all the way to the edge of the container. This can take 1-2 hours depending on the size of the candle. Please resist the urge to light it for a short time to check the scent. What this does is create a ‘memory pool’ and every burn after will create tunnelling which wastes precious wax along the sides of the container. You may find that you don’t get as much scent from the first hour of your new candle. This is normal as a candles scent throw gets stronger as it heats up. Make sure your wick is straight up and your candle is kept away from drafts or potential high traffic areas. It will burn more cleanly and safely if undisturbed. Remember, always trim your wick before each burn. Ensure you remove any larger blooms on the wick. Once lit again, only snuff the flame once the entire top layer of wax is liquid to prevent tunnelling, as described above. Never leave your candles unattended and definitely do not leave them burning overnight! Four hours is really the maximum time you should allow for each burn of your candle. Never let the candle burn down to the wick sustainer. This can make the container very hot and ruin whatever it's resting on so always extinguish your candle with around 1cm of wax left at the bottom.
